Dr. Claudia M. Muñoz is a Faculty Member at Department of Construction Sciences in Faculty of Architecture and Construction (Universidad del Bío-Bío in Chile). Associate Researcher at the Research Center for Construction Technologies (CITEC-UBB) – specializing in Sustainable Construction, Eco-efficiency, and Innovation in Construction Technologies (R&D&I)
Dr. Rafael Vázquez holds degrees in Industrial Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Seville, as well as a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, San Diego (USA). He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and serves as Director of the Indra Chair in Space Surveillance at the University of Seville. While he leads a research group in the field of Space Engineering and coordinates the newly established Master's Degree in Space Systems Operation, he has recently developed a strong interest in the applications of generative AI across various fields to enhance efficiency and productivity. He has delivered courses and workshops on this topic to a wide range of audiences, including students, faculty members, and professionals from both the public and private sectors.
Dr. Irene Fondón has carried out her research work as a member of the Signal Theory and Communications Department at the University of Seville and as part of the TIC155 Research Group on Signal Processing and Communications. After defending her PhD in the field of image processing in 2010, she obtained accreditation as contratada doctora (tenure-track lecturer) in 2013 and as titular de universidad (associate professor) in 2014. She has undertaken research stays in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Portugal, maintaining continuous collaboration with researchers from other national and international universities. She is also a member of the NEUBIAS network, a European Union-funded COST Action focused on the development of image processing in biology. Her research profile, with a distinctly interdisciplinary nature, includes two main areas. The first focuses on the development of new algorithms for computer-aided diagnosis, particularly applied to two topics: pigmented skin lesions (burns, melanoma, etc.) and ocular diseases (diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma). The second—and currently the most relevant—is related to virtual, augmented, and mixed reality combined with signal processing and artificial intelligence. In this regard, she has served as the principal investigator of the PAIDI project (P20_01173) titled “Artificial Intelligence Applied to Emotion Recognition”. It is also worth highlighting her management and institutional involvement, including her service in the University Senate from 2013 to 2014, and her presidency of WIE IEEE Spain from 2019 to 2022.
